What’s the difference between classical and rock or jazz music?

piscis_iscariot asked the question:

I mean in the use of musical theory (armony, improvisation, counterpoint, etc) is there a big difference between classical music and rock(good rock, like king crimson) or jazz?

Also i would like you to recommend me some classical composers and performers as well.

Thanks!

What is the best music software to create classical music genre?

musician asked the question:

Hey, I have been using FL since a long time. But, the samples quality is not that good, and it may be good for modern music styles. However, you always feel no matter how much you try it is very electrical. But i need a similar software with high quality samples to create CLASSICAL-like music, similar to the sounds produced by an orchestra. Can you advice me on that? Tx.

What should I put on a classical music mix?

duckiesruleice53194 asked the question:

He likes classical music, but I want it to be personal and thought out not just a bunch of obvious Mozart crap, not that mozart is crap. But it’s obvious, and not unique.
I would like music with words, if that makes sense. And so are there any artists that have classical undertones but more about love?

Can someone give me a source for classical music with notable drum sections?

oldyogi asked the question:

I’m teaching a group of children who have discovered the wonder of drums and wanted to provide them with a wealth of music that includes drums from kettles to bass to tympany etc. We’ve already been listening to some world music with different drum expressions but I’d like some classical to add to the mix. Help?

How to find classical music for specific combinations of instruments?

MattM asked the question:

Is there a website that allows you to search for pieces of classical chamber music which use specific combinations of instruments?

Note that all I need is the name of the piece and the composer. For example, you might type in “oboe, violin, viola, cello” and get “Mozart: Oboe Quartet In F Major, K. 370″ as a response.

Thanks!
